CINDY JANE MARTIN
Cynthia Martin is a Fort Collins-based mixed-media collage artist who creates images that echo with story and memory, leaving room for multiple interpretations to unfold. Guided by her academic and professional background in English literature and creative writing, Cynthia builds small visual stories from paint, paper, found photographs, and vintage ephemera. Figures, animals, and everyday objects drift into unexpected relationships, suggesting narratives that are never fully explained.
Cynthia is especially interested in the quiet emotional charge of an image—the way a gesture, facial expression, or a bit of text can connect to memory or longing. Her work encourages viewers to pause, look closely, and supply their own meanings. She views collage as both poetic and democratic: the materials are humble, the process is accessible, and anyone can find themselves in the fragments.
In addition to her artwork for Homestead Fine Art Gallery, Cynthia applies her love for visual storytelling to her monthly Collage Collective workshops in Boulder, CO, where she encourages participants of all experience levels to explore visual storytelling through the art of collage.
