Leslie Habig

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Les Habig and his wife Rhonnie Habig have been married for over 43 years, have 3 adult children. Les spent an entire career (36 years) working for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller, his job moved him and his family around quite a bit.

He took his first pottery class in 2005. Rhonnie had signed herself up to take a pottery class and she asked if he would go to it with her. (Les said “yes.”). Between 2007 and 2010, Les took pottery classes at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO. Between 2010 and 2021, Les had been part of several community pottery studios in Colorado, Washington (state), and Alaska. At each one, he volunteered to mix glazes (from their recipes) and load /fire kilns.

In 2021, Les retired from the FAA; and Rhonnie and he moved back to Colorado. They have been putting together a pottery studio in their home. In 2023, Les started selling his pottery at various markets around the NoCo area. His primary focus is wheel thrown, functional pottery.
