ARTIST STATEMENT:
Nature inspires me. The contrasts of light and dark, textures and patterns fascinate me. Once I begin a work, the image takes on a life of its own. I become immersed in another world. The tactile feel of the art materials is part of the creative process, essentially feeling the image unfold. Without that level of connection to the artwork, a spiritual communion, my work does not speak and appears lifeless and stiff. I not only want you to see the tree I have painted, I want you to feel it with your eyes and your heart - its texture, its weight, its soul. Art is more than paint and paper. Art is emotion.
